China’s central TV conducted a large survey which concluded that even though the per capita income was nearly 20 times what it was in the late 1980’s, the Chinese have seen a decline in overall life satisfaction. The Gen Y people, known as millennials because they were born between 1980 and 2000 and because they came after the Gen X’ers, have been found to be the happiest and least stressed in the world. Killy Kilford has started a campaign in New York City he’s delightfully calling “Honk Less, Love More.” Like sunflowers in summer his signs are popping up all over NYC. The idea started out as painting he was doing but his friends wanted to have them made. Killy’s friends got their way and 200 hundred signs began showing up all over the city. Happiness is becoming as important a factor to travelers as the cost when booking travel; at least according to World Travel Market which conducted the research. Their findings suggest that customers are demanding added value and more comfort. In other words, they are looking for a higher ‘happiness score’.
