Happiness is a Robert Holden Documentary

Happiness is a Robert Holden Documentary

“People who follow their joy discover a depth of creativity and talent that inspires the world.” ~Dr. Robert Holden~ I wanted to share these Robert Holden documentaries because, even though they are now somewhat dated, I feel that for anyone who is  a “new student of happiness” these videos are a wonderful place to start, especially for those of you who have read one or more of Roberts books. Practices for Happier Life

Practices for Happier Life

Life is filled with yes’s and no’s, and I’ll bet there are times you find yourself saying “yes” when every fiber of your being is screaming NO! No is one of the easiest word in our language to pronounce and yet it’s so hard to say sometimes. We say “yes” because we want to please, or because we don’t want to disappoint. As my meditation practice evolved I discovered that the road to authentic happiness as nothing to do with my self-esteem, or maybe more accurately, my self-image. Self-image arises from what from what you believe that other people believe about you. The authentic-self lies beyond the belief of others. The authentic-self is, according to the great American Psychologist Abraham Maslow, independent of the good or bad opinion of others. Shifting my identity from my ego oriented ... Read More »

Simplicity as a Way to Happiness

Simplicity as a Way to Happiness

It sometimes feels like everyone I know is busy, friends and family are all busy with work, kids, meetings, and all the preoccupations of life. One thing I’ve noticed is that being busy and being unhappy, more often than not, go hand in hand. We are told (at the very least it’s implied) that in order to survive in this fast-paced world you have to keep up. But what if instead of a high-speed lifestyle you could use simplicity as a way to happiness? I’ve found that simplifying things means I can enjoy life more. Simplifying for me doesn’t mean ...
